| Baruch was the scribe of the prophet Jeremiah. Penned during or just after the time of the Maccabees this book of prophecy is found in the Latin Vulgate and the Greek Septuagint and although the first part of the book is thought to have originated in Hebrew a Hebrew version has not survived.
The Apocryphal books are considered to be Scripture in the Roman Catholic and Orthodox Christian traditions and are held in high regard as ancient writings of the church good for edification, historical background and personal reflection but not for doctrinal discourse by most protestant traditions.
